Keeping Healthy to Keep Looking Young for Longer

Nobody wants to look any older than they have to. However, it isn’t easy to stay looking young. There are some steps you can take to help maintain youthful looks as long as possible. These health tips to look good can be followed by anyone.

Whiten Teeth

As people get older, their teeth naturally start to look yellower over time. Thus, whitening the teeth can help to make a person look younger. First, either visit the dentist for the most dramatic and fastest results or invest in an at-home whitening kit.

After whitening, avoid foods that tend to stain the teeth, such as red wine and coffee, and use a whitening toothpaste or mouthwash to help maintain the newly whitened look.

Eat Right

Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, healthy unsaturated fats, and whole grains can help you maintain a healthy weight and look good. Some particular foods have been linked to potential anti-aging benefits, including extra-virgin olive oil, green tea, fatty fish, pomegranates, flax seeds, tomatoes, avocados, spices, and vegetables.

Be Sun Smart

While spending time in the sun can give a person a nice looking tan, any tan is a sign of damaged skin. Damaged skin means more age spots and wrinkles as you get older. Use a tan from a bottle instead and make sure to wear sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 whenever spending time outside.

Get a Good Workout

Exercise can help reduce the signs of aging as well as keep you thin and fit. It doesn’t have to be super strenuous, but aim for at least 30 minutes over the course of the day most days of the week.

Choose something you enjoy to make it easier to stick with the new exercise plan, such as walking, dancing, or swimming. Also, aim for at least two or three days of strength training, as muscle burns more calories than fat and takes up less space per pound of the body. Building muscle not only makes you look better, it makes it possible to do more without feeling worn out and tired.
